Visit to Scania: Sustainable transportation, connectivity, and digital innovation - 15 May 2025

The SSE Tech Initiative invites you to join an exclusive visit to Scania鈥檚 headquarters in Södertälje. This event offers a unique opportunity to explore one of Sweden鈥檚 leading industrial innovators and gain insight into the future of sustainable transport. Register below to secure your spot.

During the visit, students will gather for an afternoon of immersive learning and industry insights hosted by Mathias Larsson Carlander, Strategy Officer at Scania and Affiliated Research Fellow at SSE’s House of Innovation. The group will begin with fika and an informal meet-up in one of Scania’s exhibition trucks and top cargo trailers, followed by a presentation on digital transformation in the transport industry. You will hear about how Scania is navigating technological shifts - redefining product development, value creation, and organizational change as part of the evolving digital logistics ecosystem.

This will be followed by a tour of the Marcus Wallenberg Hall, Scania’s official museum, where we will encounter more than a century of engineering breakthroughs, from early railway vehicles to advanced trucks and electrification concepts. You will also have the opportunity to engage directly with professionals at Scania, gaining first-hand perspectives on current challenges and developments in the transport and mobility sector.

Scania is a global provider of sustainable transport solutions, with operations in over 100 countries. Known for its modular approach to production and commitment to reducing environmental impact, Scania is at the forefront of digital transformation, electrification, and smart logistics. The company’s long-standing focus on innovation and operational excellence makes it a compelling case for students interested in the intersection of business, technology, and sustainability.

Please note: This visit is exclusively open to SSE students (including PhD candidates and students in SSE Executive Education’s MBA programs) and SSE staff. We will meet in front of Scania’s Marcus Wallenberg Hall at 14:00. Participants are asked to travel to the venue independently; public transport options will be shared with all registered attendees via email.
