Swedish House of Finance researcher Magnus Dahlquist is appointed to a newly established expert council that will advise Norway’s Ministry of Finance on the management of the Government Pension Fund Global.

Swedish House of Finance’s Magnus Dahlquist (SSE) has been appointed to an expert council that will advise Norway’s Ministry of Finance on the management of the Government Pension Fund Global — one of the world’s largest sovereign wealth funds.
The council, announced on April 30 by the Norwegian Ministry of Finance, will play a critical role in shaping the fund’s long-term investment strategy and overseeing its responsible management. It will also assess Norges Bank’s active management of the fund, with a key review planned for 2025.
Dahlquist, a Swedish House of Finance researcher and Handelsbanken Professor of Finance at the Ƶ, brings extensive academic and policy experience to the role. He previously served on the Ministry’s expert group that evaluated Norges Bank’s active management in 2018 and has published widely in top-tier finance journals.
“I am honored to have been appointed as a member of the Expert Council for the Government Pension Fund Global," said Dahlquist. “I look forward to providing advice and assessments to the Ministry of Finance on the Fund.”
The new council will deliver written assessments to the Ministry and present its findings in open seminars. Its first task in 2025 will be to assess the fund’s investment strategy and propose a systematic framework for reviewing key policy decisions.
Dahlquist joins a council chaired by Professor Karen Helene Ulltveit-Moe of the University of Oslo, alongside Harald Magnus Andreassen, Chief Economist at Sparebank 1 Markets.
